Taking Part
There are a range of ways you can get involved in Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd’s work – you can take part from home, on your estates, in your communities or at our events. Here are a few ways you can do that:
Surveys / Consultation
We regularly carry out postal, telephone and door -to-door surveys. The results enable us to improve the services we provide to our tenants as well as ensuring that as tenants your input is included in our strategies and policies.
Tenants and Residents’ Associations
You can either join a current Tenant and Resident Association in your area or with assistance from Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd set up a new one in your area.
A residents’ group can help solve community issues and promote community activities – making your community a better place to live. Tenants and Residents’ associations are made up local of residents who represent the opinions and wishes of other residents in their area. Help and support is provided by the Community Development Team and training offered to make sure the group works well together and is effective.
Tenants Day / Fun Days
Each year Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd organise a Fun Day for all of our tenants in August. Activities for all ages are provided as well as an opportunity for you, our tenants, to meet the Associations staff in an informal way. A number of agencies and organisations are also invited to provide you with any information you may need. The location of this event changes each year. Transport and food are all provided.
Roadshow
Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd arrange a roadshow each year whereby we visit all our tenants in a particular area. We aim to visit each tenant on a 3 year cycle. This is in addition to your visits from operational staff. The purpose of the roadshow is to promote the work of the Association as well as provide you with any information that may be relevant ie ‘how to reduce your costs’, for example.
Annual General Meeting
All tenants are invited to attend Cymdeithas Tai Clwyds Annual General Meeting which is held in July each year. This ensures that we are accountable to our tenants. Transport and food is provided. Again this event takes place at different venues each year within our operational area.
Mystery shoppers
Mystery Shopping is a method of checking the level of service that the Association provides. Tenants are firstly given training and are then assigned tasks to measure against our Service Standards. You might visit reception areas, make phone calls, or write letters or emails, and then report the results back to the Association.
Estate Improvement Projects
Would you like to make a difference to the area in which you live? Well we can help! This grant scheme allows you and your neighbours to get together to apply for a grant of up to £500 to improve your surrounding environment or to organize a fun day in your area. This scheme aims to encourage groups of tenants to get together and develop a project or an idea that can benefit the smaller or wider community.
Llais Clwyd
A Panel of Tenants who are willing to be consulted by Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd on a variety of issues affecting them, from problems local to their area to changes in policy and procedures. Members of Llais Clwyd are also entitled to an incentive scheme.
Task and Finish Working Groups
From time to time Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd carry out reviews on a specific service we provide ie Anti-Social Behaviour, Maintenance, Equality and Diversity etc. Where possible we appreciate tenants input and ask tenants to become a member of the working group. These groups usually meet regularly for a small period of time.
Tenant Participation Working Group (TPWG)
The Tenant Participation Working Group meet on a quarterly basis to monitor the work of the Community Development Team. The Group are also responsible for monitoring the progress on the Associations Local Tenant Participation Strategy (LTPS). The TPWG consists of staff from each department within the Association, as well as tenants (some of which are Board Members) and all members of the Community Development Team.
Tenant Inspectors
The role of the tenant inspectors is to monitor the standard of service provided to tenants in order to highlight good practice and suggest any improvements if necessary. The group undertake close inspections of our services. As a member of the tenant inspectors group, you will help produce reports which make recommendations to senior management and the Board. Full training is given to anyone wishing to become a tenant inspector.
Tenant board members
Electing tenants to the Board of Management is currently being reviewed. More information to follow.
