Success for Tai Clwyd

The annual TPAS awards were held in Llandudno on Friday May 1st 2009 and Tai Clwyd sweeped two awards, coming 2nd in both the ‘Val Feld Wales Communication in Housing’ award and ‘The Roy Parry Mainstreaming Tenant Participation ‘Award.

The first of the two awards was given for the production of this newsletter which is produced by the Publicity Group at Tai Clwyd. The newsletter is a fundamental way for us to feedback and communicate with yourselves. Over the next few months we hope to set up an Editorial Group comprising of tenants to further develop our newsletter.

The second award was given for the mainstreaming of Community Development and Tenant Participation within the organisation. The commitment to this has been demonstrated by our staffing structure and the strategic plan which enables us to work towards mainstreaming TP throughout the Associations work. This is evident through the Tenant Participation working group, TP Champions, Tenant Training, Roadshows, Tenant Days, Tai Clwyd 50 club and the election of 4 Tenant Board Members. We have increased our TP budget, conducted a staff skills audit to identify skills that can help with TP activities and all job descriptions are in the process of being reviewed to include TP awareness and responsibilities. All of Tai Clwyd’s TP and Community Development work is monitored and scrutinised by the Tenant Participation Working Group and the Board of Management ensuring it remains an integral part of the Association as a whole.
