Tenants Day - Best Yet!
3 August 2007

Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd’s Annual Tenant Day held this year at Denbigh Leisure Centre (Thursday 2 August 2007 ) proved one of the best yet! With a 100 tenants present and 50 children participating in workshops at the event, it proved to be a great hit with both young and old, with more tenants attending than ever before

Gwynne Jones , Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd said: “The task of arranging this event is mammoth, and to see so many tenants attend here today has been absolutely fantastic. From the feedback we’ve received, it has proved a great success, with the adults enjoying a mix of hands on workshops, addresses by relevant people within the industry and a light quiz. The young people had a day full of new experiences, with the younger generation enjoying a musical storytelling event, Fun bus activities and meeting TV favourites, Fireman Sam and Sali Mali . The teenagers tried their hand at hip hop with Ed Holden, from the Welsh band ‘Y Genod Droog’ at a specially created practical workshop.

Hannah Jones , 15 who attends Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, Llanrwst said: “The hip hop workshop was brilliant. It was completely different to anything I’d ever tried before. The best bit for me was getting involved, and trying out some hip hop myself, in front of my friends – it was cool!”

As part of Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd’s aims to encourage residents to participate in the Association’s work, Tenants Day is proving a great asset to the organisation that works with tenants in Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham, north Powys and south Gwynedd.

Many of Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd’s partners were on hand at the event to offer advice and assistance to Tenants. Stalls were set out within the Leisure Centre manned by partners such as North Wales Police, Twf, Cais, Denbighshire Voluntary Services, Energy Saving Trust and Caledfryn Credit Union to name but a few.

Gwynne Jones concluded: “We are extremely greatful to the staff at Tai Clwyd for all their hard work and effort in arranging this eventful day. Likewise, our partners who offer support and back up in all that we do. And of course, without our tenants continued interest in our activities, the day would not have been such an astounding success!”
